Starfish, Inc. (www.star-fish.com) a division of Pan Fish located in Norway, provides high-end value added seafood products to grocery chains, restaurants and club stores. Starfish was growing and needed to build a processing plant in Seattle. They contracted with a design firm and equipment supplier, Process Logistics, LLC to complete the task.
Jim Kallenberg of Process Logistics needed the support of a procurement and supply company that had the experience in the industry to complete this plant in a very short period of time. Starfish agreed with the selection of The Buying Network, based in Seattle, as it was a perfect fit for the project.
The Buying Network (TBN) started with supplying the services of a painting contractor and epoxy floor specialist to create a sanitary room to start with. TBN supplied all the necessary building materials to construct a machinery room, internal walls and state of the art demonstration kitchen overlooking the plant floor. Fiberglass Reinforced Panels supplied by TBN were added to all of the walls. Comments from the installing crew of the panels said "these panels are the best quality that I've ever worked with".
From the smallest bolt to blower, air compressors and sanitation systems, TBN supplied the all of the items required to connect the major equipment together. Hydraulic piping, stainless sanitary piping and valves were delivered to the welding team with rental equipment; stainless and mild steel structural materials, welding consumables and safety items during the project.
To ready the plant for production, TBN recommended and supplied all of the required personal work wear (gloves, boots, aprons, hairnets, etc.) sanitation supplies and safety equipment needed for startup. It was now time to turn on the start switch.
What about spare parts? TBN surveyed equipment not supplied by them and sourced critical spare parts. If the item is more than a day away, and could shut down the plant, we supplied it.
The Buying Network was also a supplier of many of the day-to-day consumables to keep the plant running. The customer gets the right product, at the right time for less than they could perform the function themselves. And it's all on one invoice.
