Buying Network selected as supplier for vessel conversion
Winter 2007 - 2008 A customer purchased a vessel that needed to be converted to a completely different function than from the previous owners used it. There were two objectives in this conversion that is against popular belief. They needed to perform this conversion in 60 days from arrival in Seattle and wanted to save money over typical conversions.
The decision was to hire a shipyard that could do the heavy lifting, (steel work) and much of the typical labor provided by shipyards and use a third party to supply much of the items needed for the conversion.
The Buying Network was selected to supply everything from grinding discs, stainless steel pipe to electronics and everything in-between. Our drivers delivered goods on a daily basis to keep the crews supplied and the work on schedule. During this short conversion, The Buying Network was also given the task to supply the vessel with the required spare parts and consumables for the upcoming trip to Alaska.
